De France gives us a perspective into the medieval romance with betrayal and supernatural beings involved within this lai. The way the character's wife betrays him by stealing his clothes then in turn her children are then cursed by this betrayal by having their faces disfigured with their noses being removed. This I think has to deal with karma again noted that once you have done something, eventually it will come around and bite you in the back.
