Lady Mary Chudleigh was a lady who educated herself and was a devout Anglican. She put up a front of a feminist argument in multiple of her works. In "To the Ladies", directly in the first lines it puts a feeling of hatred and disgust that a wife and servant are not different only in the name. As time goes along, the men become strong and draw fear in the women's eyes. Only the men have power here so you need to value yourselves and have pride if you want to be wise. I feel as though she is protecting and informing the women as to what is to come in marriage. She goes into great detail of the emotional side of things.
