Yonec

This lai is a traditional knight in shining armour idea but in that, he did not have to make a long and grueling quest. De France shows some of the supernatural side of the medieval romance by having the knight turn into a hawk and vice versa when he arrives at the tower of the lady. A big full circle happened when he told her that her son Yonec will be the avenger to her enemy. It made sense that it was the husband because he locked her there, spying was being done, and prevention of entry by the knight was guaranteed. I think also with what we have talked about with marriages being arranged in medieval times, that those relationships were unstable and toxic which led for women to fantaasize about new romances. I think this whole lai was that intention.
