Laustic

In this lai by Marie de France, she illustrates some of the fairy tale aspects that are persistent in the medieval realm of literature. Laustic, which translates to nightingale, can be seen as love between the lady and her neighboring lover because she arises in the night to listen to the bird which gives her joy when communicating with her lover. I also think that once she found out that the bird had been killed, she felt a void in her life that couldn't be filled. It was like the nightingale was the last piece of the puzzle, and without it, she would no longer feel the same way.
