We can clearly see in the poems that he indeed loved a woman; Then he lost her to tragedy. In Soleasi Nel Mio Cor, he states that she was the "beauty o'er this heart of mine" and that he was in love with her but her time for "heavenly bliss" has come. He cannot let go of the past that is her love for him and his love for her. He really feel that nothing can fix this pain of his. He thinks that we are nothing in this world and that nothing matters. Petrarch is trying to tell us that love is hard. Maybe when we are with them it is easy, but when they go, nothing else may seem important or meaningful in the world.
