During her time, Elizabeth's literary role was to shape those influenced by her image. Elizabeth was well educated and it showed in her works that influenced many writers of her time. One of the biggest issues when she reigned was religion. Her own personal experiences with persecution in religion shaped her stance on establishing the Church of England and to eliminate persecution for private belief. She was very content in her views of society and never changed as a result.
In "Written in her French Psalter", she is trying to relate to the people of her country to being suspicious to her activities. The England people were stirred up in Elizabeth's later years and were unsure of their future as a country. I think this happens a lot in government and society. The people are so supicious of those in charge because we have no power to dictate anything.
